DEATH OF A JANITOR-Mr. Woodruff, for a long time one of the janitors of the oakland schools, died in San Francisco about 2 weeks ago. Although occupying a humble station in life, deceased had many friends in this city who will regret his death.

McKAY-In this city, March 3d, 1874, after a lingering illness, Mrs. Mary H. McKay, aged 56 years. (Friends are invited to attend the funeral service at St. John's Church, TOMORROW (Thursday) at 2 o'clock P.M.

Mrs. McKay was a native of Baddington, Scotland, and has been a resident of Oakland for twenty years, during which time she has been known by a large circle of friends. Strong affection, constancy of feeling, unwavering devotion to the highest principles that animate and control human actions were her distinguishing characteristics. A nobler spirit never took its flight from earth to heaven. (R. G.).
